Approval Eligibility

Step 3: Online Course Provider options for OSPI approval

The way in which the provider offers online courses determines the available approval options.

Is the provider “multidistrict”?

A multidistrict online course provider is:

  • A private or nonprofit organization or district that enters into a contract with a school district to provide online courses to K-12 students from more than one school district, or
  • A private or nonprofit organization or district that enters into contracts with multiple school districts to provide online courses to K-12 students from those districts.

If yes, then the organization or district is subject to initial approval by way of the full review process.

If no, then the provider is subject to initial approval by the shortened single district approval option.
