Student Enrollment Instructions:

Students are referred to the program through the Core Team process at White River High School. Multiple interventions are provided to struggling students prior to a referral to the Graduation Alliance. If that referral is considered, students and parents consult with the guidance staff as well as the contact for Graduation Alliance for enrollment into that program.

Overview

White River School District is committed to the mission of ensuring higher levels of learning for all students preparing them for success beyond high school. With that in mind, we have expanded our educational opportunities by embracing a new program inspired by State Law HB1418 that allows us to reach out to high school dropouts and reengage them in a personalized and flexible program that is reflective of their unique needs. We have partnered with The Graduation Alliance in this work so that students have access to their full catalogue of high school courses in addition to a full support network including, academic coaching and tutoring, college and career transition counseling, and case management and support. With the assistance of this support network, students will receive the support and guidance they need to achieve their educational goals.

This program is designed to serve students who have dropped out of high school or who have otherwise disengaged from the educational process and give them the opportunity to earn their high school diploma online. Students interested in this program must be between the ages of 16-21 and are credit deficient or referred to the program. One key element to online learning success is our recognition that online learning requires timely intervention and direct human support; we balance flexibility with accountability and support. Online learning requires and helps build self-management and self-directed learning skills. It’s not for everyone, but for many it’s the only viable approach that makes sense given the students’ life circumstances.

We know from experience that with the right support structure students can thrive in an online learning environment. We provide on-the-ground mentors who know the kids that they work with and know the community in which they work. Our mentors are available to make sure our students have the support, tools, and guidance they need to truly succeed. While technology (the online learning environment) is the enabler, it’s the human element (the mentors and our student support teams) that drives success.

This program is designed to serve White River School District students who have dropped out of high school or who have otherwise disengaged from the educational process and give them the opportunity to earn their high school diploma online. Students interested in this program must be between the ages of 16-21 and are credit deficient or referred to the program. Whether you are interested in a high school diploma, GED, industry certification, or adult-basic education and career readiness, we can help.

Student-Teacher Contact Requirements

The Graduation Alliance program follows these best practices by offering students who can’t or won’t participate in other programs the opportunity to complete courses online. The Graduation Alliance program offers students multiple pathways to find success. Students who are interested in pursuing a high school diploma from their local district choose from a full catalog of courses, including career and technical education and career and college readiness coursework. Those who have limited time in which to participate or who are severely credit deficient can opt to complete the GED preparation + Industry Based Certification track. Finally, those students who struggle with basic literacy and numeracy skill have the option of completing an intensive remediation program supplemented with career and life skill training.

Courseware Platform

All online instruction is provided by The Graduation Alliance which is a fully accredited program that offers approximately 50 courses in the areas of English, Social Studies, Math, Science, Art, CTE, and World Language. This program delivers web-based courses via Brainhoney, a student learning environment developed by Agilix Labs. Students, parents, mentors, and administrators access the program through the Partner Portal, offering complete transparency into activity and performance at both the student and program levels. Proactive alerts and notifications and role-specific dashboards provide a support infrastructure for student success.
