Student Enrollment Instructions:
Students enroll into the Virtual Program at West Auburn by first requesting enrollment into West Auburn and then meeting with the school principal for program placement through a placement conference. Once a student is enrolled into the Virtual Program they are contacted by the Virtual Program Coordinator to meet and to be scheduled into Apex classes based on their academic and credit needs working towards high school graduation. All students have a student learning plan listing each course they are enrolled in.
Our West Auburn community will ensure all students are empowered and engaged learners in a safe, respectful environment. Our school primarily serves students who need additional academic options and support through individualized supports and programs. The Virtual Program students complete core and elective high school coursework using the APEX curriculum. Virtual is an ALE program developing student learning plans for each student.

- Credit Recovery
The type of students served in the Virtual Program varies. Virtual serves students who are unable to attend traditional full day programs due to employment or family obligations, students who have had attendance challenges, students who are not comfortable in large direct instruction classes, and student who are credit deficient and are looking for an individualized approach to work at their own pace and explore options to accelerate course completion.
Student-Teacher Contact Requirements
The instructional model for the Virtual Program is designed around the Washington State Alternative Learning Experience or ALE guidelines. Students in Virtual have individually developed student learning plans based on their academic and credit needs. Most students attend classes twice a week on campus for two or three hours each day of on-site attendance. The on-site scheduled time is used for students to work on APEX coursework in a computer lab setting with a highly qualified certificated teacher to support the specific academic area of each student. Students have face to face regularly scheduled meeting time with the program coordinator for academic support and progress monitoring.
The courseware platform for the Virtual Program is Apex.
