Approved as a Single District Online School Program from the 2015-16 through the 2018-19 school year.
Student Enrollment Instructions:
Students need to contact John Kelly at ESD123 (email@example.com or 509.544.5730) to determine if they qualify to attend uGrad based on the 1418 program requirements which are:
a) Under twenty-one (21) years of age, but at least sixteen (16) years of age, as of as of September 1,
b) Have not yet met high school graduation requirements,
i.Students who, based on their original expected graduation date, have participated or could have participated in up to two (2) full years of high school must have an earned to attempted credit ratio that is sixty-five (65) percent or less. (Earned credits divided by attempted credits ≤ sixty-five (65) percent),
ii.Students who, based on their original expected graduation date, have participated or could have participated in more than two (2) full years of high school must have an earned to attempted credit ratio that is seventy-five (75) percent or less. (Earned credits divided by attempted credits ≤ seventy-five (75) percent),
c)If not credit deficient as outlined in Section C.1.b., have been recommended for enrollment by case managers from the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), the juvenile justice system, district approved school personnel, or staff from community agencies which provide educational advocacy services.
Students meeting the requirements will be enrolled in the program provided by Graduation Alliance. Their team will work with the district and ESD team to provide the support necessary to be successful in the program.
Educational Service District 123, based in Pasco, WA, is one of nine ESDs in Washington. Dedicated to delivering collaborative solutions that promote learning, ESD 123 serves 23 school districts in seven counties of Southeastern Washington.

And we are committed to helping ALL students if they are pre-k students who have yet to enter the system of kids who have chosen to exit the system. To do this we have expanded our educational opportunities by embracing a new program inspired by State Law HB1418 that allows us to reach out to high school opt-outs and reengage them in a personalized and flexible program that is reflective of their unique needs. We have partnered with The Graduation Alliance in this work so that students have access to their full catalogue of high school courses in addition to a full support network including, academic coaching and tutoring, college and career transition counseling, and case management and support. With the assistance of this support network, students will receive the support and guidance they need to achieve their educational goals.
This program is designed to serve students who have dropped out of high school or who have otherwise disengaged from the educational process and give them the opportunity to earn their high school diploma online. Students interested in this program must be between the ages of 16-21 and are credit deficient or referred to the program. One key element to online learning success is our recognition that online learning requires timely intervention and direct human support; we balance flexibility with accountability and support. Online learning requires and helps build self-management and self-directed learning skills. It’s not for everyone, but for many it’s the only viable approach that makes sense given the students’ life circumstances.
We know from experience that with the right support structure students can thrive in an online learning environment. We provide on-the-ground mentors who know the kids that they work with and know the community in which they work. Our mentors are available to make sure our students have the support, tools, and guidance they need to truly succeed. While technology (the online learning environment) is the enabler, it’s the human element (the mentors and our student support teams) that drives success.

This program is designed to serve our students in South Eastern Washington who have opted-out of high school or who have otherwise disengaged from the educational process and give them the opportunity to earn their high school diploma online. Students interested in this program must be between the ages of 16-21 and are credit deficient or referred to the program. Whether you are interested in a high school diploma, GED, industry certification, or adult-basic education and career readiness, we can help.
Student-Teacher Contact Requirements
Monthly Attendance Period Requirement:
two hours of face-to-face interaction with a designated program staff for the purpose of instruction, academic counseling, career counseling, or case management contact aggregated over the prior
Weekly status check in by individual communication from a designated program staff to a student. Weekly status check:
(a) Can be accomplished in person or through the use of telephone, e-mail, instant messaging,
interactive video communication, or other means of digital communication;
(b) Must be for the purposes of instruction, academic counseling, career counseling, or case

(d) Must occur at least once during a school week.
Graduation Alliance delivers its web-based courses via Brainhoney, a student learning environment developed by Agilix Labs. Brainhoney was designed in collaboration with Graduation Alliance to meet the specific needs of high school-age full-time online learners. For students who do not have ready access to high-speed internet.
Graduation Alliance offers our district partners access to our fully-integrated, proprietary Partner Porta, which allows students, parents, mentors, and administrators complete transparency into activity and performance at both the student and program levels. Proactive alerts and notifications and role-specific dashboards provide a support infrastructure for student success.
