Student Enrollment Instructions:
Student counselors are the first point of contact for students wishing to enroll in online courses. Students and parents complete the online course registration form along with other required paperwork. Parents sign the form and return to Patrick Rigby, Online Course Coordinator at Crest. A student learning plan is then generated.
Mercer Island School District has a single comprehensive high school. In our district vision is to personalize learning for student, we desire to offer online experiences for those students and families that desire this. We will be partnering with the Spokane Virtual Learning in the 2016-2017 school year to launch direct online enrollment with the provider.

This program will serve students who are in need of an online course for acceleration and credit retrieval, as well as schedule changes and to offer courses beyond our current course offerings.
Student-Teacher Contact Requirements
Students will be required to maintain weekly progress and contact with teachers. Students will be receiving assignments directly from their teacher and will be submitting assignments and interacting with their teachers via Blackboard. If a student does not make weekly contact or progress, then an online teacher will contact the student and/or parents to get the student back on track. Counselors, the online coordinator, and intervention specialists might be employed to assist as needed. Teacher will also create Student Success Plans (intervention plans) for students who do not make monthly progress in their online courses.
