Student Enrollment Instructions:
For our online learning program during the school year:
The enrollment process begins with a conversation between the student and the academic counselor regarding graduation requirements and interest in online learning.
The following form is completed by the student and given to the counselor for approval:
The approved form is then given to the Online Learning Department for registration purposes.
Summer registration is completed online via a google doc.
The District believes that a variety of learning options, including online courses and
programs, are critical for 21st Century learners. The District recognizes that the online
learning environment provides students with unique opportunities to become self-disciplined
learners with life-long learning skills. Further, the District believes that online learning
provides tremendous opportunities for students to access curriculum and specialized
courses in a flexible learning environment that might not otherwise be available.
Therefore, the District supports a range of online learning opportunities that are equally
accessible to all students in the school District. The superintendent will provide
information to parents, students and staff regarding online learning options and the
guidelines for participation.
The Superintendent or designee will develop procedures to implement this Regulation. The
procedures will include, but not be limited to, a description of student access to online
learning courses/programs, student eligibility criteria, the types of online courses available to
students, methods the District will use to support student success, payment of course fees
and other costs, granting of course credit and conditions under which no credit will be

Issaquah School District Online options is specifically designed to provide quality online learning opportunities for students in grades 6-12 who reside in the Issaquah School District.
Student-Teacher Contact Requirements
Students participating in online learning who are designated as ALE are assigned to meet weekly in-person with a building teacher/mentor as well as required to make weekly contact with the certificated online teacher of the course. These contact requirements are documented.
All students registered for an online course are expected to make weekly contact with the certificated online teacher.
All students registered for an online course attend an initial extensive in-person orientation.
In addition, the support team for online students includes the Online Learning Coordinator, the academic counselor, the building administrative team, and the building online mentor/teacher.
All Unit exams, midterm exams and final exams are completed in-person, proctored by an Issaquah School District staff member.
Students participating in Issaquah’s online health course meet twice a week with teachers as well as participate in in-person CPR and AED training. Students are required to attend an in-person orientation and exams are proctored.
For online learning Issaquah School District contracts with Apex Learning, Advanced Academics and Fuel Education and students log onto their platforms to access the courses.
