Overview

Explorer Academy is K-12 grade Parent Partner program and and exempt on-line school program for students who live withing the South Kitsap School District Service Area. Explorer Academy provides an offeringsof courses K-8 grade utilizing electronic curriculum and teachers from Explorer Academy and 7-12 grade courses/teachers utilizing the On-line platform From Advanced Academics managed by teachers at Explorer Academy in the South Kitsap School District. Students may also be taking traditional classes in conjuction with the on-line courses from Explorer Academy Staff who is Washington State certificated and highly qualified in the subjects areas they teach.

Curriculum Alignments

Explorer Acadmey utilizes Advanced Academics as our on-line course provider for grades 7-12 which are aligned with the Washington State standards. In addtion any curriculum used at Explorer Academy has been aligned with Washington State standards and approved by the South Kitsap School district.

Accreditation

Explorer Academy competed a Self study review in 2009-10 and is fully accredited through the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools.

Instructor Certification

All of the Instructors at Explorer Academy are Washington Certificated teachers. All of them are highly qualified for the actual classes they teach at Explorer Academy.

AP Audit

Explorer Academy does not currently offer Advanced Placement Classes.

Courseware Platform

Explorer Academy is a blended school. We offer courses in grades K-8 using electronic curriculum from the K-12 company but are taught by our own instructors and parents of the the student. Students meet with teachers or attend classes on our school campus. Students are not taught by teachers from a different location other than from Explorer Academy.

Our 7-12 On-line program utilizes Advanced Academics as the course provider. Students have acces to a comprehensive curriculum and teachers provided by Advanced Academics. Explorer Academy teachers mange the students progress and compliance with Alternative Learning Experience Laws and complete documentation that shows success with the Written Student Learning Plans.

Everything can be Online
It works just like a traditional high school, except everything is online. You can login and access your courses from home, the public library, or anywhere there is a computer and Internet access.

Teacher-Supported Learning
You have access to individualized attention 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from our support staff, including certified teachers nearly 18 hours a day. Teachers communicate with you through phone, email, and instant messaging. Our teachers even have a virtual online whiteboard to visually explain concepts to you.

We are committed to the success of every student. Our staff will work directly with you to help orient you into your online classes, answer any questions, and connect you with your teachers.
