Students from all experience and skill levels find our online courses informative, engaging, and flexible enough to fit into their traditional school schedules. Students may work on assignments during times convenient for them, chat online with classmates, post to class forums, and meet one-on-one with instructors during weekly office hours.

EXPECTATIONS – While the online format may be more flexible or convenient than a traditional classroom for some students, the coursework is still rigorous and requires dedication and focus to be successful. Students must devote time every day to studying, asking questions, completing assignments, and staying in close contact with teachers.

REQUIRED SKILLS – Computer literacy is important for students to be successful in our courses, including the ability to use a computer, correspond via email, navigate with a web browser, follow multiple-step instructions, read and comprehend at the appropriate level, follow a lesson schedule, and complete coursework on time.

STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES – The content includes a variety of features to support accessibility, including video transcripts and captions, color and contrast considerations, and adjustable timings. Both the content and instruction accommodate different learning styles and provide multi-modal learning opportunities for differentiated instruction and concept mastery. Every lesson contains a variety of modes and activities to engage and meet the needs of learners with different strengths and styles.

Key concepts and tasks are explained using multiple representations, and students are guided in mapping meaning among the varied representations. Embedded supports and scaffolds such as transcripts, translations, and read aloud features ensure that all students meet the challenges of the standards.

Student-Teacher Contact Requirements

Students are able to contact teachers via email, telephone or chat. Teachers also have scheduled office hours. Edgenuity provides concept coaches for core subject areas. Concept coaches are available on demand during published support hours.

Courseware Platform

Edgenuity’s interactive curriculum is delivered through our proprietary online, interactive student portal and learning management system (LMS). A variety of media rich content, videos, and graphic organizers are presented in audio, visual, and verbal digital lessons providing multi-modal instruction. Supports and scaffolds let students and teachers take control of the pace and presentation of instruction and provide access to built-in learning resources to include a close reading environment, translation tools, read-aloud, video captions, and other tools to ensure academic success. Students also have access to instructional support through the LMS from virtual instructors, concept coaches, and live online chats. Additionally, built-in grade and progress reporting allows students to self-monitor learning, while parents and educators may carefully track and benchmark academic progress in real-time.

I felt that the curriculum could match closer to the assignments. Oftentimes I felt that the assignments given were completely unrelated to the coursework that they were teaching us that week.

Well, I didn't particularly enjoy the class but after all the time spent on the history of psychology things started to get interesting. This course did help me work on my time management though.
