Student Enrollment Instructions:

Parents begin the enrollment process for their student by completing an online application that is found at the school website at www.vansd.org. Look to schools / other educational programs /virtual learning. After the application is completed and sent a school representative will make contact with the parent to share the steps to finalize enrollment.

Overview

Vancouver Virtual Learning Academy is a public alternative to the traditional classroom and serves students in grades 6-12. The school is part of Vancouver Public Schools. Vancouver Virtual Learning Academy provides a personalized course of study to meet State learning standards and all graduation requirements for a Vancouver Public Schools diploma. Students may take advantage of courses being available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Vancouver Virtual Learning Academy provides an opportunity for students to participate in a cohort of students that spends approximately three hours, one time per week, at the Vancouver Virtual Learning Academy campus. Students complete courses provided by Fuel Education and Acellus. Students also have access to remote courses, aligned with state standards, developed and delivered by endorsed teachers through a learning management system.

Students

Vancouver Virtual Learning Academy seeks to create an educational pathway to graduation that meet the unique needs of the student. High School students must have at least a sixth grade reading level. Vancouver Virtual Learning Academy staff review each prospective student’s application for admission to the program.

Student-Teacher Contact Requirements

Vancouver Virtual Learning Academy provides an opportunity for students to participate in a cohort of students that spend a minumum of two and half hours, one time per week, at the Vancouver Virtual Learning Academy campus. The school provides a Vancouver Public School teacher to make weekly contact and complete monthly progress reviews. Weekly attendance is required.

VVLA utilizes a learning platform from Edmentum and Odysseyware.
