Student Contact

Full Support

In our non-IS versions of our courses, our teachers communicate weekly with the student through course announcements, assignment feedback, and emails. Teachers access our online Communication Tool to document this 2-way communication with the student. Upon request the district mentor can receive an export of the weekly communication including date, method, and topic for a particular student. Communication Data is stored up to a year after the student completes the course. The student would be given an ALE Course Participation Requirements handout explaining the weekly communication requirement upon enrollment into the ALE version of this course.

In our non-IS versions of our courses, our teachers hold weekly online sessions via GoToTraining with students that last anywhere from 15 – 30 minutes. Upon request the district mentor can receive an export of the weekly session attendance for any particular student. Online Session Attendance Data is stored up to a year after the student completes the course. The student would be given an ALE Course Participation Requirements handout explaining the weekly online session requirement upon enrollment into the ALE version of this course.

Written Student Learning Plans

Full Support

In our non-IS versions of our courses, our certified staff will create learning plans that include the 8 required components specified by the ALE rules. The course syllabus will be used to describe the learning experience and expectations. The local mentor will be asked to review the Student Learning Plan and articulate any special needs a student may have in relation to the successful completion of the course. The local mentor will also provide district graduation requirements to help in the completion of part 8 in the Student Learning Plan. The student and parent, local mentor, certified teacher, and preparer of the Student Learning Plan will meet online via GoToTraining to review the plan and kick-off the student’s enrollment into the course.

Monthly Evaluations and Intervention Plans

Full Support

In our non-IS versions of our courses, once the WSLP has been reviewed the team will meet monthly (every 4 weeks) to review the student’s progress. The student and parent, local mentor, certified teacher, and preparer of the WSLP will meet online via GoToTraining to evaluate the progress. If the student is progressing unsatisfactorily, the district mentor will outline the “next steps” of the intervention process to align with ALE rules. The mentor will support the student by outlining requirements, encouraging them with positive motivation, and monitoring their progress on a regular basis, communicating with the teacher as needed.
