The mission of the Sumner School District and Sumner High School is success for students everyday. Fuel Education (formerly Aventa Learning), Apex Learning, and Red Comet are the three third-party providers used in the Sumner School District. They support our mission for students in grades 6 through 12. Through Fuel Education (formerly Aventa Learning), Apex Learning, and Red Comet we are able to offer flexible learning environments for students in our high schools. The courses and approaches range between full time on-line students taking all of their initial coursework through the three on-line programs to high school students needing to recover credits for graduation. The coursework is rigorous and is comparable to courses offered at our comprehensive high schools. These courses meet the needs of many high school students and our home schooled families. Our on-line program helps Sumner High School to offer courses that meet the individual learning needs of our students. These courses are rigorous and as difficult as the courses we offer in both our high schools. We do not recommend these courses for students who struggle with reading. On grade-level readers who, as a rule, pass Washington state assessments and are self-directed learners do very well completing and passing online courses.
