Algebra I and working knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS
Technology Requirements
The school or student is responsible for providing:

Operating System:
- Windows XP preferred
- Vista and Windows 7 may require minor software adjustments
Software Requirements in addition to the Windows OS:
- Microsoft Visual C++ Express 2008 or 2010
- Borland Free Command Line Tools Compile (provided at no cost)
- 2D Paint Software – Paint.NET (free), GIMP (free), Adobe Photoshop, or other
- ProjectFUN Editor (provided by DigiPen Institute of Technology)
Network Requirements
The school or student is responsible for providing:
Network Requirements:
- Daily student assignments will be hosted through http://distance.digipen.edu/. Students are given access after enrolling in the course.
- Online “live” meetings will be hosted via http://digipen.webex.com/.
- For the live classes, broadband internet (Cable, DSL, Fiber-optic) with speed of 512kbps (“half a Megabit”) or higher is required. 1 Megabit or higher is recommended.
- Satellite and ISDN internet connections may have connectivity issues during live classes.
Special Technology Requirements
These are course-specific requirements that go above and beyond the Provider Baseline Technical Requirements.
The school or student is responsible for providing:
- Broadband Internet connection (512kbps / 0.5 megabit or better)
- Microsoft Windows OS (XP, Vista, 7)
- Pentium 4 CPU 1.0 GHz or higher
- 128 MB RAM
- Video Accelerator Card w/16 MB VRAM minimum (dedicated video hardware recommended)
- Minimum video resolution 1024x768
- 3GB free hard drive space

- CodeGear Borland Free Command Line Tools 5.5
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Express
- 2D Paint program (such as Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, GIMP, or Paint.NET)
- Java NetBeans and BlueJ IDEs (for students in pre-AP track)

This course requires student participation in synchronous weekly meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4pm-5:30pm PST

This course requires ProjectFUN Editor from DigiPen Institute of Technology, which is provided to enrolled students at no cost.
The course instructor will contact students and mentors upon receiving enrollment information with instructions for installing ProjectFUN Editor and other required software (which is also available at no cost).
NOTE: If students are using computers at their school which are managed by the school or local school district, the DLD Registrar and/or Mentor must coordinate with their Information Technology department to ensure permission is granted to install software on the computers.
