Creating a Bouncing Polymer Ball Lab Required Materials:
- 1 1-2 cups of borax (found in the laundry section of the store)
- 1-2 cups of cornstarch (found in the baking section of the store)
- 1 small-medium size bottle of white glue (Elmer's school glue)
- 1-2 cups of warm tap water
- 1 set of measuring spoons (1/2 tsp, 1 tsp and 1 tbsp sizes)
- 2 spoons or craft sticks to stir the mixture
- 2 small plastic cups or other containers for mixing
- 1 marking pen
- 1 watch or clock with a second hand
- 1 metric ruler
- 1-2 zip-lock baggies
Building Molecular Models Lab Required Materials:
- 4 - 2inch Styrofoam balls (preferably white in color). These can be found in any arts and crafts store such as Hobby Lobby or even Wal-Mart in the sewing materials section.
- 24 - 1inch Styrofoam balls (can be any color)
- 1 (24-36 straws) package of plastic, non-bending drinking straws (assorted, solid colors)
- 1 small diameter Phillips screwdriver
- 1 plastic protractor
- 1 pencil or pointed tip magic marker
- Rubber Bands and Hea t Lab Required Materials:
- 10 to 15 large rubber bands
- 1 electric hair blow dryer
- 2 to 4 fishing weights/sinkers
Exploring Glow Sticks Lab Required Materials:
- One glow stick
- Two StyrofoamTM cups
- One thermometer
- 1 cup of ice cubes
- Hot and cold water
- Chemical Polishing of a Silver Surface Lab Required Materials:
- 1 piece of tarnished silver
- 1 large pot or bowl
- 1 or 2 pieces of aluminum foil (to cover the bottom of the pan or dish)
- Several cups of water to fill the pot or bowl
- 1 pot to heat the water in
- 1 pair of kitchen oven mitts (to handle the hot water dish)
- 1 to 2 boxes of baking soda (estimate about 1 cup per gallon of water)
Acid-Base Exploration Using a Red Cabbage Indicator Lab Required Materials:
- 2 cups of red cabbage
- 1 to 2 cups of Water
- 1 blender or food processor
- 1 sieve or colander
- 1large pot (to catch the strained liquid extract)
- 1/2 cup of white vinegar
- 1/2 cup of bleach (dilute to 1 part water to 2 parts bleach)
- 4 clear plastic cups
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 set of measuring spoons
- 1 black (or any dark color) magic marker
pH Lab Required Materials:
- Red cabbage
- Coffee filter or paper towel
- Container for water (at least 250 ml or 1 / 2 pint)

- Hot water (e.g., from a faucet, heated in a microwave oven, etc.)
